Bulgarian tank thief arrested
Police in Bulgaria have arrested a young man who stole four ageing tanks from an army barracks to sell them for scrap. A police spokesman said the man was arrested as he was trying to sell parts of the tanks to a scrap dealer. Correspondents say that stealing metal to make money is commonplace in Bulgaria, which also explains why many road signs and drain covers are missing. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
