Bulgarian tank thief arrested

Police in Bulgaria have arrested a young man who stole four ageing tanks from an army barracks to sell them for scrap.

A police spokesman said the man was arrested as he was trying to sell parts of the tanks to a scrap dealer.

Correspondents say that stealing metal to make money is commonplace in Bulgaria, which also explains why many road signs and drain covers are missing.
