New technology law advances another step
The upper house of the Indian parliament has approved a new law to boost the use of the Internet as well as preventing cybercrime. The approval comes only a day after it was passed by the lower house despite concerns about civil rights and the invasion of privacy. The bill will now be sent to the President for his assent. Correspondents say the bill will be an important factor in India's bid to become a computer superpower. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
