Brussels airport strike off
The Belgian government says that a strike by firefighters that closed Brussels international airport has been called off. A government spokesman said negotiations had taken place between management and unions and the airport would be fully operational again by the early evening -- nine hours after it was shut down forcing flights to be cancelled and diverted. The firefighters called the twenty-four hour strike in support of demands for improved working conditions. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
