Fifteen hurt in Ambon violence

Shooting has been reported in the capital of the Moluccan Islands, in Indonesia, amid rising tension between Christians and Muslims.

At least fifteen people were wounded after soldiers opened fire on crowds in the city of Ambon.

Later, troops sealed off some parts of the city, which was also affected by a power cut.

The BBC correspondent in Indonesia says the unrest seems to have been sparked by rumours that a Muslim had been attacked by Christians.

It comes two days after a group of several hundred Muslim militants arrived in Ambon from elsewhere in Indonesia, threatening to wage war against Christians.
