Indian cricket player arrested

Police in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh have arrested a former member of the Indian cricket team, Gyanendra Pandey, for allegedly torturing his wife.

Mr Pandey is presently captain of the state cricket team.

Police said the complaint, filed by the woman's father, alleges that Mr Pandey was harrassing his wife for not bringing in enough dowry.
