Council to decide on hall funding

A council is to decide whether it will put £20,000 into reopening a town hall.

North Shropshire District Council is to decide on Tuesday if it can help plug the gap in a funding shortfall to help re-open Wem Town Hall.

It comes after Advantage West Midlands, the regional development agency, said it would be giving £40,000 less than the amount needed to repair the hall.

The building, which closed three years ago, will be used by Thomas Adams School and the community.

The Wem Town Hall Community Trust was formed to run the hall which used to be used by the town council.
