Five arrested after stab attack

Four men and a woman from Essex have been arrested following a stabbing which has left an 18-year-old man in hospital with a punctured lung.

Police were called to Temple Way at Heybridge, near Maldon, where they found the teenager with a number of stab wounds following an altercation.

The victim was taken to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, where he is said to be in a stable condition.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward with information.

The incident happened shortly before 0010 BST.

Two men from Maldon, aged 18 and 21, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

A 22-year-old man, from Maldon, was arrested on suspicion of causing violent disorder and a 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman are being questioned on suspicion of assisting an offender.
