The rising price of wheat is a boom for grain farmers but is pushing up the costs of raising cattle.

Farmers in the UK are hoping to cash in over the 'grain boom', but there are concerns about how customers will react to having to more pay more for meat, as the cost of raising cattle rises.

Social tensions are rising in Egypt as increasing food costs force people to compete for government- subsidised bread.

The demand for bread is so great, two people were killed in Cairo after a fight broke out at a crowded bakery in the city.

Farmers in Australia are struggling to make a living after a grain shortage in the country.

Crops were ravaged in 2007 after the country's worst ever drought. There is concerns about the future as global wheat stocks are at their lowest since 1979.

The BBC travelled to the world's biggest commodity exchange in Chicago to look at spiralling food prices.

Bakeries in Chicago fear they are losing customers as the cost of bread and cakes continues to rise.
