Man arrested for holding schoolgirl captive

Police in Japan say they have arrested and charged a man for kidnapping a schoolgirl and holding her captive for more than nine years.

They said the man, Nobuyuki Sato, was arrested after doctors declared that he was mentally fit to face questioning.

The schoolgirl, who is now nineteen, was found when hospital officials visited the home of her abductor last month at the request of his mother, who said he was acting strangely.

She's been since re-united with her mother.
