Taxi strike in Buenos Aires

Taxi drivers in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, are staging a twenty-four strike in protest at increased attacks on them.

The stoppage comes after the murder of four colleagues in recent weeks.

The drivers want more police patrols and are asking the taxi owners to install security devices in the cars.

The drivers' trade union says if their demands are not met, they'll take further action. A BBC correspondent in Buenos Aires says the city's crime rate is low compared with other Latin American capitals, but there has been a marked rise in violence in recent years.
