Briton on Pakistan arms smuggling charges

A Briton accused of attempting to smuggle military materials to Pakistan has been detained in custody by a court in the United States.

The man, Jonathan Reynolds who is based in Thailand, was arrested last Saturday on suspicion of trying to supply Pakistan with night vision goggles and plans for military transport aircraft.

Military sales to Pakistan have been banned by the United States for the past ten years because of concerns about its nuclear development programme. The court in Boston remanded Reynolds until February 17.
