Pipeline fire kills seventeen Reports from eastern Nigeria say seventeen people were killed when fire broke out in a pipeline where people were trying to siphon off fuel illegally. The incident occurred in the village of Ogwe in Abia state. Correspondents say it was the latest in a series of fires and explosions in Nigeria, where desperately poor people resort to tapping pipelines for fuel to sell to motorists.
