Hague court reopens prison camp case The International War Crimes Tribunal in the Hague has detained a Bosnian Croat prison commander who had been released after a two-and-a-half-year sentence. The man, Zlatko Aleksovski, had been convicted of mistreating Muslim prisoners at the Kaonik prison camp in 1993, but cleared of grave breaches of the Geneva convention, because his victims were not prisoners of war as defined in the treaty. The judges said the sentence needed to be reviewed as far as the two not guilty verdicts were concerned. The case was reopened after an appeal from prosecutors. Correspondents say the decision may have far-reaching implications, as it hinges on recognising the conflict between Bosnian Muslims and Croats as an international one.
