World Bank reviews aid to Nepal

Officials from the World Bank say they are reviewing their aid package to Nepal.

The move comes less than two weeks after the resignation of Nepal's pro-reform finance minister, Mahesh Acharya, who stepped down over differences with the prime minister Krishna Prassad Bhattarai.

The World Bank is providing funding of two-hundred-and-forty million-dollars for aid projects in Nepal.

Officials say the future of the aid package depends on the speed of economic reform in the country.

Analysts say the bank is concerned that the pace of reform will slow down following the departure of Mr Acharya. Bank officials revealed their decision to review their strategy after they pulled out of a meeting of international donors in the Nepalese capital, Kathmandu.
