27 killed in South African floods Flooding in South Africa has left at least twenty-six people dead and brought widespread devastation. The floods, which followed several days of torrential rain, have caused dams to burst, swept bridges away and disrupted electricity and water supplies. Main roads to Mozambique and Zimbabwe have been made impassable. Some parts of the Kruger National Park -- South Africa's biggest game reserve -- have been cut off by overflowing rivers and army helicopters rescued about one-hundred-and-thirty people from flooded tourist centres. Southern Mozambique has also been badly affected, with one-hundred-thousand people reported to have been made homeless by floods in the capital, Maputo, and a neighbouring industrial town Matola.
