Japanese opposition reaches deal

Opposition parties in Japan have agreed to end an unprecedented eleven-day boycott of parliament.

Their action was in protest at what they saw was a lack of debating time over government plans to reduce the number of seats in the house.

The main opposition Democratic party, as well as the Communists and Social Democrats, are expected to return to parliament tomorrow Wednesday after the governing coalition offered more debating time on key issues.

Debate on the government's budget proposals has been seriously disrupted.

The opposition had argued that the government's plan would favour larger parties in the house.

It's still keeping up its demands for early elections.
