Yorke could get Leeds clearance

Yorke Trinidad and Tobago could release Yorke

Dwight Yorke could take part in Manchester United's Premiership clash against Leeds, according to Trinidad and Tobago general manager Richard Braithwaite.

Yorke will miss United's trip to Newcastle on Saturday because he will be playing for his country in the CONCACAF tournament in the United States.

We like to talk to clubs and we would be keen to keep the dialogue open

However, Braithwaite claims his country's federation would be willing to work out a compromise with United, even though they have first call on his services according to Fifa rules.

"As far as I'm aware he will be with us for the duration of the tournament," said Braithwaite.

"But I think the Federation would be willing to look at the situation and try and reach a mutually acceptable compromise if necessary.

"We like to talk to clubs and we would be keen to keep the dialogue open without having to resort to bringing Fifa in."

Braithwaite made it clear, however, that he wants Yorke as long as Trinidad and Tobago remain in the prestigious Gold Cup tournament, which lasts from February 12-27.

"Certainly I want him to be available," Braithwaite said.

"The Gold Cup is an important tournament and this is our European Championship.

"We have bent over backwards to accommodate clubs and I'm not just talking about Manchester United, but several other clubs and several other players.

"Dwight has played just one game for Trinidad and Tobago in the last three years and that was against Jamaica in January 1999.

"So I don't think we could be accused of monopolising his time."
