Rwandan genocide suspect in London court A former senior army officer in Rwanda, who is wanted by the United Nations tribunal pursuing those responsible for the 1994 genocide, has appeared in court in London. The magistrates agreed to a police request that the officer, Colonel Tharcisse Muvunyi, should be kept in custody until he is handed over to the tribunal in Tanzania to face trial. Colonel Muvunyi's lawyer said his client had nowhere to flee to and he also completely rejected the accusations against him. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
