New bid to block Pinochet Opponents of the former Chilean military ruler, General Augusto Pinochet, have been back in court in Britain in another attempt to stop him being sent home. Belgium and human rights organisations, led by Amnesty International, are trying to block any move by the British government to release him on the grounds that he's unfit to stand trial. They say his medical report should not be kept secret - and he should be examined again by doctors. A decision on the case is expected later in the week. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
