Boost for jobs blackspot
A major investment project for west Wales will create up to 600 jobs. Wales's Economic Development Secretary Rhodri Morgan has announced details of the scheme in Pembrokeshire - a major boost to the unemployment blackspot.
A purpose-built customer service centre at Pembroke Dock in Pembrokeshire, will create hundreds of hi-tech posts.
The call centre will be operated by the employment agency Manpower. It will be responsible for recruitment, in partnership with another company which will handle customer relations. The purpose-built centre at Cleddau Bridge was completed last September as part of a strategy to develop Pembrokeshire's declining economy. It is hoped that the centre will eventually lead to the creation of a new e-business "cyber" park in the area. A training centre is currently being built nearby. The centre can accommodate up to 200 workers at a time and recruitment is expected to begin immediately. |
