Quarry explosion kills Eyptian in Mecca The Saudi Arabian news agency says one person has been killed and five others injured by an explosion at a quarry in the holy city of Mecca. The agency said the casualties were hit by flying pieces of rock as they passed through a shopping district next to the quarry. The dead person was an Egyptian. The injured were another Egyptian, two Saudis, a Bangladeshi and a Pakistani. The interior ministry has launched an inquiry into the incident. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
