The Chief Executive of the company which runs the Millennium Dome -- Britain's biggest project to mark the Year 2000 -- has resigned.

The company has not given any reason for Jennie Page's decision to step down.

But the project, which cost three-quarters-of-a-billion pounds, has been criticised in recent days for its poor attendance and the company has had to negotiate a huge loan to tide it over its cash flow problems.

Miss Page's successor will be Pierre Yves Gerbeau, described as a whizz kid from Disneyland, Paris, who was credited with turning that around after a very bad start.
