Nato troops clash with Kosovo Albanians

International peacekeeping forces in Kosovo have clashed for a second day running with ethnic Albanian protestors in the northern town of Kosovska Mitrovica.

Several hundred ethnic Albanians hurled stones and bottles at the peacekeepers in protest at their failure to prevent the killing of eight Albanians over the past few days in the Serb-dominated northern half of the town.

The peacekeepers - who were blocking a bridge separating the two communities - responded with tear gas.

The ethnic violence - the worst in recent months - began on Wednesday when two Serbs where killed in rocket and grenade attacks.
