Argentina joins outcry over Austrian government

Argentina has added its voice to international criticism over the inclusion in the Austrian government of the far-right Freedom party.

The vice-president, Carlos Alvarez, called on Argentina's trade partners in the South American trade bloc, Mercosur, to join it in repudiating what he described as a party made up of neo-Nazis.

Mr Alvarez said his government was studying the continued presence of its ambassador in Vienna.

Argentina became a haven for dozens of Nazis after the second world war, but in recent years has acted to extradite a number of war crimes suspects wanted in Europe.
