Austria new Chancellor appeals to Israel The new Austrian Chancellor, Wolfgang Schuessel, spoke on Israeli television after his appointment saying he regretted the Israeli government's decision to recall its ambassador to Vienna. He said he'd refused to include in his cabinet anyone with what he called dark shadows in their political past or in their ideas. He added that he hoped that normal relations between the two countries would be restored in the near future. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
