Paris cancer conference

An international conference on cancer in Paris has ended with calls for global partnership in the fight against the disease.

Delegates from one-hundred-and-sixty countries signed a document -- called the Charter of Paris Against Cancer -- outlining measures to improve treatment worldwide.

Organisers hope the international initiative will increase research funding and understanding for cancer, which kills around six million people a year.

The conference adopted February the fourth as World Cancer Day.
