Honduras, Nicaragua talk on border tension The foreign ministers of Nicaragua and Honduras have started two-days of talks in El Salvador in an attempt to reduce the military tension in their borders. The Honduran Minister, Roberto Flores, and his Nicaraguan counterpart, Eduardo Montealegre, are discussing the creation of a military exclusion zone, the establishment of limits to the number of troops in the border areas and the security of the local population. Relations between the two countries became strained after the Honduran parliament ratified a bilateral treaty with Colombia, which Nicaragua considered harmful to its sovereignty.
