Africa Nations Cup quarter-final qualifiers

Co-hosts Nigeria and Ghana are among the eight teams to go forward to the knock-out stages of the Africa Nations' Cup.

Nigeria sealed their place last night with a two-nil victory over Morocco.

Tunisia, who beat Congo one-nil, qualified at Morocco's expense and join Egypt, Senegal, Cameroon, Algeria and South Africa in the quarter-finals.

The tournament resumes on Sunday when Cameroon play Algeria and Ghana take on South Africa.

Meanwhile, members of the Ivory Coast national football team, who were detained in an army camp for three days, have been freed and taken to the country's capital, Abidjan.

They were shown on state-controlled television being forced to conduct military marches and receive lectures on discipline. The military leader of Ivory Coast, General Robert Guei, said they were locked up to teach them a lesson in patriotism after their poor performances in the tournament.
