The first stock exchange in Uganda opened today in the capital, Kampala.

Only one small company traded, but it saw its share price rise.

In an interview with the BBC, the chief executive of the Uganda Security Exchange, Simon Rutega, said the stock exchange would grow as several more companies were preparing to float shares.

He said the exchange operated on an 'open outcry' system, where traders shout out their bids.
