Arson probe in South African winelands Farmers in the Western Cape area of South Africa have been counting the cost of more than a hundred bushfires which have been brought under control after three days. Because fires broke out in many different locations, police say they're looking at the possibility of arson. Vines and tree plantations were damaged in the wine-growing areas of Stellenbosch but the worst affected areas included the Silvermine nature reserve. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
