Maradona seeks drugs cure in Cuba

The former Argentine football star, Diego Maradona, has gone to Cuba to undergo a drugs rehabilitation programme.

He boarded a flight from Buenos Aires last night accompanied by his wife, parents and two doctors.

Maradona was diagnosed as having a severe heart condition after being admitted to hospital in Uruguay two weeks ago suffering from a cocaine overdose.

His doctors have warned that further drug-taking would endanger his life.
