Uttar Pradesh electricity strike

Police in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh have arrested more than two thousand electricity workers who've been taking part in a strike against planned government reforms of the industry.

The stoppage which began on Saturday has severely disputed power supplies across the state, especially in some rural areas.

Nearly a-hundred thousand electricity employees in Uttar Pradesh have taken part in the strike,which is in protest at government proposals that include privatising electricity distribution
