One-day strike in Assam Political groups representing the Bodo tribe in the north-eastern Indian state of Assam have observed a day-long strike as part of their demands for a separate state. Reports say rail and bus services were disrupted although there have been no reports of violence. The political groups said they organised the stoppage in response to what they say is the failure of the government in Delhi to find a lasting solution to the Bodo tribe's demand for an independent state.
