Man stabbed in mass robbery

New Scotland Yard Police are investigating reports of mass robberies

Two people have been taken to hospital - one with serious stab wounds - after a gang of youths carried out mass robberies in London's West End.

Police at Scotland Yard are investigating reports that a gang of youths were involved in "steaming" - which involves running along the street mugging passer-bys.

Two victims were taken to hospitals in central London - one in his late teens, who was assaulted, and another who suffered serious stab wounds, according to the police.

The incident occurred at about 3am on Monday in Whitcomb Street, close to Leicester Square - a major tourist attraction.

The area was believed to have been cordoned off by the police.

Two people have been arrested and are being held in custody.
