Iran and US football draw

The national soccer teams of Iran and the United States have drawn one goal all in a friendly match in California.

The game has generated huge interest there, and thousands of Iranian Americans - some with the Iranian flag painted on their face - crammed into the stadium at Pasadena to watch.

It's the first time the Iranian team has visited the US since the Islamic Revolution more than twenty years ago; and only the second time since then that Iran has played the United States.

Iran won the only previous match in the 1998 World Cup finals.

The United States and Iran have no formal diplomatic ties, but have recently stepped up cultural links.
