Bangladesh accused of harbouring separatist rebels

The chief minister of Tripura in northeast India, Manik Sarkar, has alleged that separatist rebels from his state are operating from at least twenty-nine bases in Bangladesh.

Mr Sarkar says he has passed on details to Indian government officials so they can take up the matter.

He says he does not question the integrity of the Bangladeshi government, but he says opposition groups and religious fundamentalists are harbouring the separatists.

He also alleges the rebels are being armed and funded by Pakistani intelligence services.
