Keane wants to be Roy the Bhoy

Roy Keane is considering a future move to Parkhead

Manchester United star Roy Keane would like to end his career in Scotland with Glasgow Celtic, according to newspaper reports.

The Old Trafford skipper's lucrative new contract ends in three years, when Keane will be 31 years old.

"I've got another three years left after this season but whether I'll be in the team then I really don't know," Keane was reported to have said.

"I'm not one for looking too far ahead but if in two to three years my contract was up again I wouldn't mind a transfer to Celtic.

"That would be nice to finish it off."

The 28-year-old Republic of Ireland international also revealed that he believes he has another 10 years left as a player.

While stressing that he was happy with current £50,000-a-week contract at Manchester United, Keane told the Sunday Mirror he was considering life with the the Bhoys - a team he has followed since childhood.

The news is likely to delight Celtic director of football Kenny Dalglish and coach John Barnes but disappoint Manchester United fans.

While a potential deal is still a long way away in footballing terms, a fit Keane would still be only 31 years old and one of the most highly rated players in the world.

The reports surfaced after Keane and the rest of the Manchester United team returned from their disappointing performances in the Fifa World Club Championships.

Cork-born Keane, who has already savoured domestic success, still harbours ambitions of European glory.

Champions League

He was forced out of the Manchester United team which beat Bayern Munich in the European Champions League final in Barcelona last year because of suspension.

He told the Sunday Express: "The night in Barcelona was great for the club, but as an individual I missed out because of suspension.

"So there's definitely a part of me that wants to hold up that European Cup.

"But I'm still only 28. Lothar Mattheus was 38 in our final so hopefully I've got another 10 chances."
