Amnesty International criticises Malaysia The human rights group Amnesty International has expressed grave concern over the Malaysian government's arrests of opposition figures on charges of sedition. Amnesty said the renewed use of restrictive laws on sedition and official secrets threatened fundamental freedoms. The Malaysian government has arrested five opposition figures in the last week, including supporters of the jailed opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
