Kuwaiti occupation leader goes home

The man who headed the government the Iraqis installed in Kuwait after their invasion in 1990 has been arrested after returning there.

The man, Colonel Alaa Hussein Ali al-Jabour, was sentenced to death in absentia by a Kuwaiti court in 1993 for agreeing to become prime minister of what Iraq called the provisional government of free Kuwait. He also served as defence minister, interior minister and commander in chief of the armed forces during the seven month occupation. The Kuwaiti deputy prime minister, Mohammed Sharar, said Mr Jabour had arrived back yesterday of his own free will, accompanied his children.

He's reported to have been living in Norway since the Gulf War.
