Chechen news agency restarts in Ukraine The Ukrainian authorities have allowed the Chechen news agency to reopen in the town of Odessa. The agency operated out of Odessa during the previous Chechen war between 1994-96. A number of hardline Ukrainian nationalists have volunteered to fight on the Chechen side against the Russians, and there are large numbers of Tatars and Muslims living in southern Ukraine.
