Police loch The latest remains were found in Manse Bay

The Dutch authorities have received a formal request for the extradition of the man wanted in connection with the death of Kilmarnock teenager Barry Wallace.

William Beggs, 36, from Kilmarnock, was detained by police in Amsterdam last month in connection with the death.

A statement from the Crown Office said: "The request was delivered through diplomatic channels. The terms of the request are confidential.

"The request was submitted to the Dutch Ministry of Justice who, after consideration, will pass it to the Public Prosecutor in Amsterdam.

"The Dutch authorities will decide on a date for a hearing."

An extradition hearing is not expected until March.

Mr Wallace, an 18-year-old Tesco supermarket worker, disappeared after a works Christmas night out on 5 December last year.

He was reported missing by his parents after he failed to return from the Foxbar Hotel in Kilmarnock.

Limbs discovered

Several days later, his arms and legs were discovered by police divers from Central Scotland Police during a routine exercise at Rowardennan, Loch Lomond.

Officers at tip Officers have siftted through tonnes of rubbish
A woman walking her dog found his head in a plastic bag 60 miles away at Barassie Beach, Troon, Ayrshire, on 15 December.

And last week police found part of his torso of the teenager in Loch Lomond at Manse Bay, Balmaha.

Meanwhile, up to 30 police officers have been working their way through tonnes of stinking material at the Garlaff landfill site, near Cumnock.

The tip, 20 miles south of Mr Wallace's home town, disposes of waste from a number of local authorities including the local East Ayrshire Council.
