Cave-ins hit Chinese mine rescue Efforts to reach Chinese coal miners trapped deep underground in the eastern Jiangsu province have been hampered by roof collapses. Four more miners have been killed, bringing the total to eleven, and another twenty-nine remain below. Rescuers were forced to retreat as the cave-ins continued. The Dahuangshan mine, near Xuzhou, was flooded on Tuesday, trapping more than sixty workers, some of whom were later rescued. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
