Jordan government reshuffled

The Jordanian Prime Minister, Abdel Rauf Rawabdeh, has reshuffled his government, appointing seven new ministers and letting six go.

The key portfolios of foreign affairs, interior, finance and defence did not change hands.

The information ministry was assigned to a journalist, Saleh Kallab, who is also taking on the Culture portfolio.

The new trade minister is a former senior trade official, Mohammad Halayqah, who was credited with securing Jordan's entry to the World Trade Organisation last month. The new ministers have been sworn in at a brief ceremony in the presence of King Abdullah.
