Eritrean delegation in Khartoum A delegation from Eritrea, lead by the Foreign Minister, Haile Woldensae, has begun an official visit to Sudan following the two countries' decision to restore full diplomatic relations. The Eritreans are expected to hold talks with President Omar al-Beshir and the first vice-presdent, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha. An Eritrean official will remain in Khartoum to re-open the embassy there. Diplomatic relations were broken off in 1994 after Eritrea backed the opposition in Sudan. The Sudanese opposition National Democratic Alliance had been occupying the vacated Sudanese embassy in Asmara. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
