Kashmir army camp attacked

The Indian army says one of its soldiers, a young girl and three militants were killed in an exchange of fire when militants attacked an army camp in Indian-administered Kashmir on Wednesday night.

A senior officer said troops blew up a building seized by the militants inside the camp in Khanabal, south of the main city, Srinagar.

The building was captured when the three drove a van into the complex and threw grenades at troops.

It's the latest in a series of such assaults on military installations. Twelve policemen were killed last month when armed Kashmiri militants attacked a police headquarters in Srinagar.
