Three lynched in Guatemala

The authorities in Guatemala say three people have been lynched by a mob at a village about sixty kilometres from the capital, Guatemala City.

The three -- two men and a woman -- are also reported to have been set on fire.

Officials say the killings may have been in revenge for a robbery allegedly committed by the trio.

No-one has been arrested in connection with the deaths.

Correspondents say villagers in Guatemala often take the law into their own hands; dozens of people have been lynched in recent years.
