Kenyan motorists die of "fatigue" in 20-km jam

Two more people died of fatigue in the traffic pile-up along the Nairobi-Mombasa road today, bringing to five the death toll along the road.

The traffic pile-up, involving more than 2,000 vehicles and which stretches about 20 km, started building up last Friday [16th January] when the Kambu bridge collapsed.

Talking to press on arrival from a tour of the site, the public works minister, Mr Kipkalia Kones, attributed the pile-up to impatience among the drivers as they worsened the situation by trying to overtake ...
