National army revived in Afghanistan
The Taleban authorities in Afghanistan say they are reviving the national army which collapsed six years ago after the fall of the former President, Dr Najibullah. A senior Taleban official, told the BBC that only those who had fought in what he called the Afghan Holy War would be allowed to join the army, and that all recruits would have to observe Islamic dress and practice.
