Deputy Minister shot in Armenia
The Deputy Interior Minister of Armenia has undergone surgery after being shot in the legs near his home in Yerevan. The minister, Colonel-General Artrun Markaryan, is also the commander of Armenia's internal security troops and the Deputy Minister of National Security. This is the third attack on an Armenian government official this week. On Sunday the Chief of the Presidential Guard Ramyn Kazaryan was shot at in Yerevan and on Tuesday Russian security police thwarted a car-bomb attack on a staff-member of the Armenian embassy in Moscow.
