Action against Vietnam racers
The Vietnamese authorities have approved a plan by the police in Hanoi to use water cannons and teargas against speeding motor-cyclists. Correspondents say the police in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have been unable to curb young men who race through heavy traffic, causing a growing number of accidents. Late last year the police in Ho Chi Minh City began using paint guns to mark motorcyclists for later arrest. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
